In Memory of Grandpa Bernie

IMG_2109

In loving memory of Grandpa Bernie who passed away February 12.

Some of the best memories I have with grandpa were going hunting, and working in his wood-working shop. I also have a lot of good memories from working on the cabin in Pine Valley, and just working with Bernie in general. Bernie taught all of his kids and grandkids the meaning of hard work, which is something I am grateful for now.

Bernie loved his family more than anything. He made family events a priority, I remember quite a few family home evenings with grandpa and grandma & all the cousins. I also remember camping trips with the family. He made it a priority to be at events in my life, especially to be at my wedding and both mine and Jess’s college graduations, even though it was a long way to travel.

Bernie was a good priesthood holder and a good example to me as I was growing up. I specifically remember being home teaching companions with Bernie & learning how to be a good home teacher. He taught me a lot about life, family, and the gospel, & I will miss him.

Breck Snow Sculpting Festival

IMG_1529

My friend Jen & I ventured up to Breckenridge one chilly Friday night to check out the Snow Sculpting festival. They were still working on them, so a few are hard to figure out from the pictures- but most of them were amazing! The first picture is the original block of snow that each team was given- made for a pretty fun evening!

New York, New York

In celebration of my dear friend Linda’s big 3-0, I met up with my good friends (and former roomies) in New York City for a weekend of fun & pampering!

Our first stop was Grimaldi’s Pizza located under the Brooklyn Bridge- that was some dang good pizza!

Little did we know, the best was yet to come… Saturday we went to check in at The Plaza, where Linda’s mom graciously booked us a room for the birthday celebrations, and they upgraded us to a pent-house suite, Oh Baby!!

Oh yes, it came complete with our own butler, Jordanny-

We ventured out for some shopping and sight-seeing, stopped in at FAO Shwartz, Dylans Candy Bar and finished off with a delicious dinner & frozen hot chocolate! at Serendipity 3.

We wanted to take full advantage of our gorgeous room at The Plaza  so we slept in, ordered room service, and lounged about until the last possible moment! When we finally had to say goodbye we spent the day touring Central Park by horse-drawn carriage, visited the Manhattan Temple and went to the Museum of Natural History which actually was every bit as cool as people say.

We ended the trip  back in Linda’s spacious Brooklyn apartment, worn out & happy

A big THANK YOU to Linda B for hosting us, it was an incredible & unforgettable trip! Here’s to many more adventures in years to come!
