Ernst & Young had a free day at the zoo, so Rob & I went for it!
I think we had a pretty good time- Denver has a pretty great zoo!
And THIS is what I’ve been busy with since last November!!…
I have a new-found respect for all the leaders who made all my girls camps so awesome- its a TON of work! But.. in the end, it is so worth it, it turned out awesome!
President Monson gave a great talk on building a Firm Foundation on Prayer, Scripture Study & Service & so we used these for the daily themes- it all tied together amazingly!
We took the YCL’s up for a retreat prior to camp- and can I just say our YCLs were awesome!! They made camp incredible this year!
These were the only scenic pictures I got- Isn’t it absolutely gorgeous?!
The camp was awesome- there were several lakes, these great little cabins for each group, firepits, an amphitheater and a lodge for cooking- it was the perfect setup!
Down by the lake during free ttime- it got pretty toasty, the cold water felt awesome!
Me & Kelli- the YCLs went up a night early to setup- we were SO excited for the girls to come!
We got to do a special overnighter with the 4th years.. it was a “really long” hike (wink wink)
Did I mention it was hot?! Me & Rhaine hanging out in the shade
Sis. Berg barking out orders!
Some of my favorite girls!!
My birthday surprise! My girls are the BEST!! They wrote me goofy notes & left me little treats- I was just so touched that they remembered, I felt SO loved!
Our incredible kitchen ladies (I mean REALLY incredible) remembered our birthdays too! I think having a birthday at camp is the greatest!
The leaders learned & danced Thriller… I’m thinking it was probably a lot scarier looking than we had anticipated… (I’m on the far right since I’m not recognizable!)
I thought it was kind of appropriate that the only leader picture we got together was dressed as zombies… that's pretty much what we were by the end of camp anyway!
The whole lot of us- sure was a fun group!
Last day of camp- I sure am tired!!
Me & some of my other favorite ladies- headed home on the bus, ready for showers & bed!
“Remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.”
Helaman 5:12
This June we were able to meet up with my family for a great Yellowstone vacation- us kids planned the whole thing as a gift to the parents & I think it turned out pretty great!
We got this great cabin (well, mostly great) with a firepit & room for everyone. We each planned a couple of meals, Joe & Andrea made this great steak & veggies over the fire- delish!
As a kid Rob used to hang way out over the edge so his mom would hang onto his belt to keep him from going over- we had to do a little re-enactment, since Rob really hasn’t changed a whole lot since then!
There are a million pictures to be taken in the park, I’ve included a few of the favorites at some of the geyser basins & the falls. We did a bit of hiking- poor Rob with his hurt leg!
We had to re-enact this classic shot as well… we didn’t get it quite right, but close enough… 10+ years later!
We went horse back riding on Saturday- I was a little nervous about it… and it turns out for good reason! Read on…
Near the end of the ride (we had been out a couple hours) my horse randomly decides to lay down- I’m already the only nervous one in the group and my stupid horse just keels over for an afternoon nap! Freaked me out!
Jamie was awesome- she took Tali with her & kept her entertained and her horse calm the whole ride- clearly I’m not very comfortable with horses!

It sure was gorgeous- well worth it!
The last day we toured the park some more & ended the trip with a visit to Old Faithful
We had dinner at one of the lodges by Old Faithful when Rob decided to pass out in his dinner…
They called the EMTs in & not to worry, we got the whole thing on camera. My family is so funny!
Other funny & strange happenings:
Joe found out what happens to soda left in the freezer…
A little bird was relentlessly trying to get inside..
We found dad napping with Buzz…
And the grand finale to the family reunion was a not so pleasant find- while packing up my sister in law Andrea found a little bug in their bed- sure enough, bed bugs!! Needless to say we all freaked a little bit. That was probably the least fun I’ve ever had unpacking (& washing) from a trip!!
Over all it was a great trip- good memories in a beautiful place!
Thanks family!
