Berg Bunch

We were lucky enough to get Robs whole family out here for some vacation. I was counting down to their visit since the beginning of summer, and I can't believe it is already past. But we had a wonderful time.

We were so glad to have Dave & Andrea crash at our place for a change (we've been crashing at theirs for years!) We also were plenty happy about the extra time we got to spend with Kelsey & Katelyn (aka the cutest kids you could meet)

Also HUGE thank you to my mom for letting all of us spend a few nights at her place. It was awesome of her to let us all just fill up her basement. Much appreciated!

So, as for the adventures: (Most pictures were courtesy of the Hawkins & Alyson)

Winter Park
Friday we went up to Winter Park to ride the alpine slide, ride bikes, and do whatever other fun things we could find at 10,000 feet. Rob, his dad, and Dave went and rode bikes for the morning while the rest of us rode the alpine slide... over and over again. The guys joined up with us after lunch for some more downhill racing. Kelsey (just turned 4) went all on her own and was faster then half the adults! She is so grown up!

Here is Rob... being Rob:Here is me... being... me:
Notice a difference? Rob is all about that adrenaline rush and I am happy to stop and look at nature... speaking of nature...
I was convinced there was this quite large animal that kept nearly attacking me on the alpine slide... I first asked Jesse if he saw it and he was like... uh, you are crazy. Later I asked Rob and then Micaela... no and no... I was feeling like I must have been seeing things. Luckily Rob's dad bailed me out. There was a marmot that would stick its nose up over the edge of the track and watch the riders come screaming down past him. I wasn't crazy after all! This one was a particularly large marmot I might add.

Rob and Dave racing up the rock wall... I was just so glad to have someone else around to entertain him for a little while. If Dave hadn't been there it would have been me racing him up... I won't say who won or last... I'll just say it was pretty much neck and neck both times.

Andrea, Kelsey and I riding up the chairlift. The views were incredible up there... and although I wasn't crazy about the heights, Kelsey wasn't bothered a bit...

Me jumping on the trampoline. I couldn't bring myself to do any backflips or anything... I'm a total wuss. Micaela did like 20... she totally showed me up. I think Kelsey even showed me up.

Kelsey & Katelyn were SO excited to find snow... This was really funny to Rob... He could not believe that someone would actually be excited for snow. But he had fun playing with his nieces anyway. Uncle Rob is pretty cool.

Winter Park was a lot of fun, although I have a word of advice:
wear sunscreen! You are closer to the sun up there!

Thunder Valley
Rob, Jamie, Alyson, Jesse, Scott and I all packed in my Civic and headed to the motocross race in Lakewood. It was kind of nice because it was a night race, not nearly as hot as previous years!
Jamie, Alyson, & I hanging out before the races started...

We pretty much had to beg to get this picture... notice the look of pure excitement on their faces... what is it with guys and not liking pictures??

I was so glad Jamie came! She is so fun! We spent our time in between races educating her on the top riders to watch. This rapidly declined into us deciding who the hottest racers were in the event program
Rob and I... having a good time, despite the races being somewhat boring... all the same guys win every race this year... thats no fun. It was all Villopoto and Stewart, again...
We did see a pretty nasty crash, Dungey went down right in front of us... that was no fun to watch... and we got to see the WMA (Women) ride, which was cool. Those are some tough girls... Overall it was a great night at the races...

Water World/Candy Factory/House Hunting/Bread Making/etc
The rest of the vacation was pretty relaxed. Saturday I learned the fine art of bread making from Dave, and I must say our bread turned our incredible... I have had two failed attempts on my own previous to this, so I was a little skeptical going in, but I was totally impressed out how great it turned out. I can easily see this becoming a family favorite...

We went house hunting sunday afternoon, which was fun, although nothing really struck me... they were all a little out of our price range. Still, houses are always fun to go look at. It was nice to have along some people who would actually give me opinions... Rob is too easy going about house hunting!

Monday Rob had to go back to work, so the rest of us went to this great little candy factory, Hammonds, down in Denver. It was cool to see how they make the candy, and even cooler to buy ourselves some treats.... the Bergs had to head to the airport after that, so the Hawkins and I grabbed some lunch and went to water world. It was a hot day, so this was a good choice!

I had a lot of fun tagging along on all the rides and hanging out with Kelsey and Katelyn in the kid park. Those two are just so dang fun... I would be happy to hang out with them every day! Rob and I definitely need to get us some kids!

That evening we discovered the Claim Jumper, courtesy of the Hawkins and can I just say that I have never had chocolate cake like that? We are talking about seven thick gooey layers... I was a total fan! It was a great end to a great weekend of fun with the Bergs & Hawkins.

We are so glad they could come visit!! Can't wait to get together again!

Meet Tali

The biggest event in our little lives these past couple months was getting to meet our new little niece Italia Marie. She has a ton of hair and is pretty dang cute. She was about a month when we got to meet her, and we were SO glad we got to spend some time with her (and My brother & sister0in0law) before they went to live in the far off land of Guadalajara.

I got a warm welcome from Tali this evening. She chose me as her very first spit-up subject... all down my shirt and pants at the restaraunt we went to. I'm still smiling... but shes not so sure...

Miss Tali playing with Aunt Jess... She was just beginning to focus on people and she was so alert and cute! She hardly cries at all, what great baby!

Big Ol' Break

I've been bad about keeping track of life... and it does not help at all that I can't seem to find our camera so I have to rely on either begging other people for pictures, or stealing them off of their blogs... regardless, I'm catching us up on all our excitement in the last month and a half...
